Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 8th January 2026

Better Surgery is committed to making our website, online courses and digital resources accessible to as many people as possible. We believe that everyone preparing for surgery should be able to access clear, supportive and evidence-based information, regardless of ability, disability or individual needs.

This accessibility statement explains how we approach accessibility, what we currently provide, and how you can contact us if you need support.

Our Approach to Accessibility

We aim to design our website and course materials in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, which are internationally recognised standards for digital accessibility.

Accessibility is considered throughout the design and development of Better Surgery content, and we continue to review and improve our approach as our courses evolve.

Accessibility Features

To support accessibility, we currently provide:

  • Subtitles on all course videos

  • Accessible formatting in PDFs and downloadable booklets, including:

    • Clear headings and logical structure

    • Readable typography and spacing

    • High-contrast text and simple layouts

  • Plain, patient-friendly language designed to be clear and easy to understand

  • Consistent navigation across the website and course platform

  • Content that is compatible with common screen readers and assistive technologies

Ongoing and Future Improvements

We recognise that accessibility is an ongoing process. Planned and ongoing improvements include:

  • Large-print versions of course booklets and written materials

  • Translations of core course content into additional languages

  • Continued refinement of layouts and content to improve usability for people with visual, cognitive or motor impairments

Third-Party Platforms

Some parts of the Better Surgery experience are delivered through third-party platforms, such as:

  • Wix (main website)

  • Teachable (online course platform)

  • YouTube (video hosting)

While these platforms are designed with accessibility in mind, they are not fully customisable. We work within their capabilities and choose settings and formats that support accessibility wherever possible.

Known Limitations

Despite our efforts, some limitations may exist, particularly where platform templates or embedded tools restrict full control over accessibility features. If you encounter any difficulty accessing content, we encourage you to contact us so we can help.

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of Better Surgery. If you experience difficulty accessing any part of Better Surgery, would like information in a different format, or have suggestions for improvement, please contact us:
